Microcurrent

About Microcurrent

What is Microcurrent?
Microcurrent is an extremely low level of electrical current that nearly duplicates the electrical impulses that the body generates for muscle, nerve, and general cellular function. It is so slight that it would take one million microcurrent machines to light a 40 watt light bulb. As early as 1830, it was discovered that injured or damaged tissue disrupts the natural flow of electricity generated by the body, and that this disruption prevents or delays the body from healing itself. When microcurrent is applied to the injured or damaged area it restores the natural flow of electrical current and therefore the healing can begin.  The use of microcurrent has become an acceptable form of therapy in the treatment of wounds, soft tissue pain and inflammation, and bone fractures because of its ability to heal the body at a rate of 250% to 350% faster than without the use of microcurrent therapy.* The subtle yet powerful effects of microcurrent have been in use for injury recovery and pain relief with professional athletic teams such as the SF 49ers and Oakland Raiders, and the use of microcurrent has been credited with salvaging the careers of many injured Olympic athletes since the 1980's.  It was the accidental discovery by a physician treating Bell’s palsy patients for paralysis that lead microcurrent to become integrated into the aesthetic field. He noticed that the faces of his patients were smoother and they appeared much younger looking after treatments. Microcurrent has been in use in the aesthetic industry for facial rejuvenation for over 25 years.

What is a Microcurrent Facelift?
The application of microcurrent to skin and tissue produces an immediately firmer and tighter feeling on the skin surface. When a microcurrent facelift is performed by an expert the results are dramatic, and can be maximized further if used in conjunction with other synergistic anti-aging treatments. Microcurrent technology is used to lift and tone the face, reduce and eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, improve facial circulation and contour, improve cellular turnover, increase lymphatic drainage, improve skin texture, enhance product penetration, and much more. Examination of skin tissue treated with microcurrent showed a 45% increase in the number of elastin fibers in the dermis, a 10% increase in the collagen thickness of connective tissue, and an increase of 35% *in the number of blood vessels present.  A microcurrent treatment is extremely gentle and can be effectively used on even the most sensitive of skin types. The facelift has been dubbed by the media as the “Red Carpet Facelift” because you can get it and go straight to an event afterwards without any downtime.  Younger people can benefit from microcurrent too, because over time the treatments will prevent the natural progression of aging effects, allowing people of all ages to look their best with a natural, healthy beauty regime!

How Does it Work?
Skin with fine lines or wrinkles, sagging muscles or lost elasticity is simply damaged. Microcurrent has the amazing ability to heal and restore the lost energy to those damaged cells and tissues, thereby turning back the hands of time.  A microcurrent facelift is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure where the facial muscles and skin are given an electrical “workout” that stimulates muscle tone and increases the production of collagen and elastin, two essential proteins needed for the skin to remain youthful and glowing. The subtle electrical frequencies also cause a dramatic increase in the amount of ATP (adenosine triphosphate, the chemical fuel of human cells) by as much as 500%.*  Such increased levels of ATP speed cellular metabolism, and create a detoxifying effect that increases the rate of waste and impurity elimination.  It is also the increase in ATP levels that allows the muscles to stay in their re-educated, “lifted” positions for longer periods of time.  This process counteracts the body’s natural depletion of ATP as we age, similar to recharging the cells of a battery that has become run-down.

How Safe is It?
Microcurrent is a safe and non-invasive procedure with no demonstrated side effects in its long history of use.  The treatment is completely painless, as the current used is almost entirely sub-sensory, and it also creates an extremely relaxing alpha state which has rejuvenating benefits of its own.  Many clients fall asleep during the relaxing treatment, and 15-20 minutes afterwards describe feeling invigorated and alert.  Microcurrent does not rely upon a thermal energy source like a laser, therefore there is no inflammation or redness, no need to heal before seeing results, and absolutely no downtime.  It stimulates the body’s mechanisms to heal itself without first causing damage to the skin.  This is very different than the lasers, peels, and harsh microdermabrasion procedures which stimulate the skin by first causing damage to it, a process which can be harmful and potentially dangerous for those who have sensitive skin or have other adverse reactions to the treatments.  Microcurrent facial treatments are by far the safest and most effective nonsurgical treatment available today.  Although it is contraindicated for use in pregnant women and people with pacemakers, most people are prime candidates for experiencing the tremendous benefits associated with microcurrent treatments.

Benefits:
Some of the benefits are increased lymphatic drainage, regeneration of connective tissue, lifting of the jowls and eyebrows, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, toning and tightening the skin and underlying tissue, enhanced skin elasticity, improvement in skin color and texture, and much more. Most people report immediate results even after the first treatment and best of all, results are cumulative.

History:
The discovery that electrical current in the body is disrupted by wounds occurred In the 1830's when Carlos Matteucci proved that an electrical current was generated by injured tissue, and since that time many research studies have been conducted which back his findings Microcurrent has been in use in the United States and in Europe for over 100 years in various forms, and has been used for cosmetic purposes in the U.S. since the 1970’s.  Medical doctors, physical therapists, acupuncturists, and chiropractors have relied upon Microcurrent for decades, but its use in cosmetic treatment is fairly recent, born out of one physician successfully treating Bell's palsy patients for paralysis, noticing that the facial lines were much softer, the face more lifted, and the eyes less droopy. It is still in use for the treatment of Bell’s palsy patients, but has been adapted for application in face and body treatments for aesthetic purposes. Microcurrent facials have been a celebrity “insider secret” for years due to the non-invasive, natural anti-aging results with no downtime.  Now that this technology is affordable, Microcurrent facial treatments have been gaining momentum and are more popular than ever.  It is also remarkable that in the history of its use for medical and therapeutic practices, there has never been any demonstrated negative or harmful side effect!

FAQs on Microcurrent

What is a Microcurrent Natural Facelift?
The Microcurrent Natural Facelift is a technique that uses a safe microcurrent energy to stimulate and strengthen the muscle tissue under the skin and increase the cellular function of the fibroblasts responsible for producing collagen and elastin in the skin. With improved muscle tone and increased levels of collagen and elastin, the skin regains that "plump and youthful" look that we are after.

Why is it called a Microcurrent Natural Facelift?
We actually "lift and sculpt" the face by massaging and manipulating the facial muscles in specific positions and directing them in ways to achieve the desired anti-aging results. The treatment literally lifts, smoothes, and tightens before your eyes.  While the results may not be as “dramatic” as a plastic surgery procedure, we find our clients are looking for a more subtle, natural look that they can achieve painlessly and without risk of complications or the lengthy downtime required to heal from invasive procedures or surgery.  Because you are "re-educating" the muscle tissue, it is critical that you receive a "series" of treatments within a specified amount of time for results to reach their maximum potential.  Aging is an unstoppable process, and therefore maintenance sessions are extremely important for retaining the results achieved during the series.

How soon do I get results?
While it is entirely possible that you will see improvement after your first Microcurrent Natural Facelift session, it is much more common to begin seeing real measurable results in 3-4 sessions.  Further changes will be more long-lasting as your facial “memory” is achieved and sustained at 8-10 sessions, while even more significant changes will occur after 12-15 sessions.

How many sessions are recommended for the full treatment and how often?
Most clients need a minimum of 10 treatments to achieve a full “facelift” makeover. Clients with greater aging effects such as severe neck sagging, deep creases, or distinguished “crow’s feet” at the brow, may need up to 15 sessions. Clients need a minimum of 2 sessions for at least their first two weeks, then one per week thereafter until treatment is complete. Those who are on a short timeline (preparing for a wedding, accepting an award, etc.) may be treated twice per week until their series is complete. After your 10 sessions, your look is maintained by receiving regular booster treatments every 4-6 weeks.

How long do the treatment sessions last?
Allow about an hour and fifteen minutes for your initial appointment, and an hour for all subsequent appointments.

How long should I expect the results to last?
Your cosmetic investment is preserved as long as you are receiving maintenance treatments every 4-6 weeks after the initial treatment span. If you stop maintenance treatments, you risk losing the muscle memory after anywhere from 3-6 months and will have to re-do the series of treatments again to regain the original youthful look.

What age range is this treatment suited for?
The Microcurrent Natural Facelift is recommended for adult clients of all ages, since it preserves and maintains the youthful elements of younger clients, and acts as a rejuvenating treatment for older clients.  We find that the results are more preventative for the client in their 30’s, while clients 40 and over experience more of the benefits of rejuvenation.

Who is NOT a candidate for Microcurrent?
If you are pregnant,
Have had heart surgery in the past year
Have a pacemaker or
Have epilepsy

How popular is this cosmetic technology becoming in the United States?
Microcurrent Facial Treatments
have been in the United States for several years, but just like other trends in cosmetic treatment and fashion, it seems to start overseas then reaches mainstream levels in the U.S. via celebrity circles. For two years in a row, Hollywood insiders have reported that this treatment was one of the hottest among celebrities in the weeks before the Academy Awards; in fact, this year it was featured on Extra during an episode on “Pre-Oscar Makeovers”.  Industry experts and media moguls are predicting this treatment to be as popular as Botox and Microdermabrasion. Many Cosmetology schools are already training their students on the technology in preparation for these predicted industry demands. Annette Hanson, president of Atelier Esthétique Institute of Esthetics in New York, has dedicated nearly one full week for a 14-hour certification course in this technology for all advanced students qualifying for ITEC certification.

How is Microcurrent used for cosmetic treatment and why is it so effective?
As we age, our body loses much of its natural electrical energy, much like a battery gradually losing its charge. On a cellular level, this leads to a breakdown of collagen and elastin in our skin, and the sagging and unevenness of texture, lines, wrinkles, and folds that become the inevitable result of aging.  Beneath the skin, certain facial muscles either sag or become increasingly contracted over years of facial expression and constant gravity, allowing the overall lift and tone of our face to decline.  Microcurrent emits subtle electrical frequencies that mimic the body’s own electrical signals, thereby increasing the amount of ATP (adenosine triphosphate, the chemical fuel of human cells) by as much as 500%. Such increased levels of ATP speed cellular metabolism, and the result is an increased detoxification process where cellular waste and impurities are more effectively eliminated. Protein synthesis and cellular membrane transport are also increased, as well as the reconstitution of collagen and elastin. The results of these processes can be seen in improved skin tone and coloration, the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, and the firming of sagging areas of the face and neck.  Besides the increase in ATP, protein synthesis, and cellular membrane transport, clinical studies have consistently shown that Microcurrent causes the following:

  • 35% increase in blood circulation
  • 40% increase in Gluconeogenesis (production of new glucose)
  • 45% increase in the number of elastin fibers in the dermis
  • 50% increase in the length of the elastin fibers
  • 10% increase in collagen thickness in the connective tissue
  • 35% increase in the number of blood vessels
  • 28% increase lymphatic drainage

LED Renewal Light Therapy

About LED Renewal Light Therapy

How Does it Work?
Renewal Light Therapy
units employ arrays of low intensity LED's of multiple wavelengths to activate skin cells with pulses of non-thermal light energy. When damaged skin is exposed to the LED array for the prescribed period, skin cells responsible for collagen and elastin production use the skin's own natural processes to convert the light energy into cellular energy in the form of ATP.  Red light, at 640 nanometers (nm), increases collagen production by 5 fold in the skin, triggering repair mechanisms and stimulating fibroblast cells and cell growth. It increases circulation and speeds up the healing process by carrying more oxygen and nutrients to the skin.

Red spectrum light is absorbed by all skin layers especially the dermis.  We are familiar with a similar form of converting light to energy, the process called photosynthesis, where plants convert light into chlorophyll, their fuel for life.  In our case, it is the increased production of collagen and elastin that results in softer, healthier, and younger looking skin.¹  Additionally, Blue light, at 470 nm, improves acne prone skin. It penetrates into the superficial dermis and has a calming and regulating effect on the oil producing glands.  Renewal Light Therapy products utilize blue and red light in the 470-640 nm range, activating natural responses in the skin to kill the bacteria that cause acne.  Light therapy has been shown to reduce bacteria in the pores by as much as 99% after only three consecutive treatments. Patients who continue treatments for three months show a 76% to 80% improvement, outperforming Benzoyl peroxide, the traditional treatment for acne.²

How Safe is It?
Unlike Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Lasers that rely on thermal injuries to prompt the skin to repair itself, the use of LEDs ensures a painless, non-thermal treatment that is also non-ablative (non-injuring). It delivers results without discomfort or risk and has been determined by the FDA to be safe and risk free under normal use for most skin conditions.  Those with severe skin conditions are advised to first consult their physician or dermatologist.  Renewal Light Therapy has the ability to enhance personal appearance by correcting problem skin conditions in a non-invasive, pain-free, and relaxing manner. Because treatments do not produce redness, inflammation, or discomfort, there is no "post-operative" period of recuperation. This makes Renewal Light Therapy a popular choice for today's busy lifestyles.

Benefits:
Renewal Light Therapy (RLT) counteracts the aging process by firming the skin while increasing elasticity, improving hydration and reducing pore size. Fine lines and wrinkles are reduced or eliminated, and the overall tone and texture of the skin is improved leaving skin with a younger and healthier look and feel.  Scarring due to surgery or injury can also benefit from RLT. The penetrating light induces healthy skin regeneration to maintain elasticity and hydration which helps to reduce the formation of scar tissue.  RLT also addresses a variety of other skin conditions from age and sun spots and skin discoloration, to the reduction of minor subcutaneous fatty growths.  The skin’s ability to rejuvenate is triggered immediately upon receiving treatment, so some results are visible within 24 hours, while the other benefits occur cumulatively over the series of sessions.  Clients can expect to leave each treatment feeling relaxed, looking refreshed and with a healthy glow.

History:
Although light therapy has been used worldwide for more than 40 years, its popularity for cosmetic enhancement only recently has increased exponentially.  Red and infrared light treatments have been used therapeutically in Eastern Europe since the 1970’s, and UV therapy for psoriasis has been utilized in the United States for many years, as has light therapy for treating jaundice in newborns.  Light therapy also has been effective as a remedy for depression; tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome; for muscle and joint pain, and inflammation; to increase wound healing for astronauts on long space missions; for collagen synthesis; to ease rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis; and for blood cleansing and treating infections. In all, various studies have reported therapeutic benefits targeting the circulatory, lymphatic, immune and nervous systems, in addition to recent studies reporting on beneficial cosmetic results.  These various therapeutic uses are due to the many beneficial tissue and cellular effects of light therapy.  LED light therapy can be performed without medical supervision and often is delivered through the use of hand-held equipment. This technology is becoming widely available, and can be used safely and confidently in both medical spas and day spas.

FAQs on LED Renewal Light Therapy

Upon what science is the technology based?
Numerous scientific and medical studies have concluded that narrow band red light generates cellular activity that leads to the stimulation of dermal fibroblasts and keratinocytes, which produce collagen and elastin.  This dramatically reduces skin problems such as signs of aging, especially photoaging caused by cumulative exposure to sunlight.

Are the LED Renewal Light Therapy treatments non-invasive and safe?

Yes, this treatment is pleasant, completely safe, non-invasive and produces dramatic results – most in a very short period of time.  Phototherapeutic treatments, such as LED Renewal Light Therapy, have recently been cleared by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  The LED Light Therapy devices EcoVibe Wellness uses are classified by the FDA as possessing “non-significant risk” because they are completely safe and present no possibility of harm from over-exposure.

Is LED Renewal Light Therapy for everyone?
LED Light Therapy works for most people and skin types.  However, it is not for you if you are pregnant, have epilepsy, are photo-allergic or are taking any medications that cause light sensitivity such as Tetracycline.  Those looking for a safe, affordable and non-invasive way to improve their skin tone and appearance should consider using LED Renewal Light Therapy, regardless of age.  These treatments have shown dramatic results with aging skin, acne, redness and flushing, eczema, psoriasis, minor fatty growths, and scarring.  If you have any concerns, please consult your doctor prior to treatment.

What is the recommended schedule for using LED Renewal Light Therapy?
We recommend six 30 minute sessions over a span of two to four weeks, and one session each month thereafter to maintain your youthful appearance.

What results can I expect, and when will I see them?
Your LED Renewal Light Therapy treatment will begin to produce results from the time of your first treatment, although in some cases it may take a few days and a few treatments before the skin begins to show the visible effects.  The light energy delivered by the Luminox Renewal Light Therapy device essentially helps the skin heal itself, and this can take more time in some people, and less in others.  The effects of the treatments are cumulative, and the visible results immediately post-treatment will be more and more significant as you progress through your series of sessions.

Throughout your treatments you will begin to notice your skin becoming smoother, firmer, and brighter, with a more even complexion.  Luminox Renewal Light Therapy devices cause none of the unpleasant side effects commonly associated with surgical procedures, yet produce similar results at a fraction of the cost.  All of this means that LED Renewal Light Treatments are a great pre-event or any time activity to ensure that you look your best—natural, healthy, and refreshed!!

How is LED Renewal Light Therapy different from Laser or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments?
Other light-based skin therapies including intense pulsed light and laser treatments rely on thermal injury to the skin’s collagen, water or blood vessels to create changes in the skin appearance. LED Renewal Light Therapy is non-invasive and does not rely on thermal energy and damage to the underlying layers of the skin to effect change. Therefore, patients are not subject to the variables associated with wound healing, which can include excessive redness and swelling, prolonged healing times, and unpredictable results.

Scientifically speaking, how does LED Renewal Light Therapy work?
LED Light offers a totally natural, non-ablative (non-injuring) method for skin rejuvenation.  Research shows that specific wavelengths (colors) stimulate specific responses in the body:  Red and infrared wavelengths increase cellular activity at the dermal level.  As we age, there is a drop in cellular activity and energy levels.  With the delivery of the correct wavelengths of LED light, these dermal cells receive a rejuvenating, anti-aging boost.  Light stimulation also increases blood flow, helping to bring nutrients and cellular growth factors to the treated areas.  Red light also stimulates fibroblast and collagen production to strengthen sagging and wrinkled skin.  LED Light Therapy also encourages the lymph vessels to open and drain more efficiently, removing toxin waste and promoting a healthier looking skin.  The therapy allows the skin to heal quickly, and with no scarring.  The Blue Light generated by LEDs works to kill bacteria on the skin.  Success in the treatment of acne (caused by bacteria) has recently been demonstrated by studies conducted by the American Association of Dermatology and the National Institute of Health.

Who has studied LED Renewal Light Therapy?
There are volumes of scientific studies available on this technology.  The following is just a sample list of institutions that have conducted clinical studies on the efficacy of LED Light Therapy:

  • NASA / University of Wisconsin, Dr. Whelan
  • Mayo Clinic, Jeffrey R. Basford, M.D. (1989)
  • Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA, Kendric C. Smith
  • National Cancer Institute
  • Massachusetts General Hospital, Wellman Labs
  • University of British Columbia, Vancouver, B.C.

Body Contour Wrap

FAQs on Body Contour Wrap

How is the Body Contour Wrap different from other Body Wraps?

  • Salt solutions, mineral salt wraps, seaweed wraps and liquid herbal wraps all pull toxins and water through the pores internally to externally, dehydrating and aging the skin through water loss. With a water loss wrap, you may be required to wear a rubber suit or booties to promote sweat and catch the body hydration. These wraps are generally messy, uncomfortable, and the inches come back as soon as you ingest liquids again to replace hydration.

  • Clay wraps act as a poultice to draw impurities from the skin. This type of wrap is dehydrating and tends to age the skin.

  • Thigh creams use aminophyllin as a main ingredient. This chemical is an asthma medication, which was formulated to shrink the mucus membranes so the patient could breathe. It does exactly the same externally, shrinking the cells of any moisture. This treatment is a water loss, dehydration, and the most damaging of all cellulite treatments, as it is putting a chemical into the body’s blood stream.

  • The Body Contour Wrap uses herbal formulations that work externally to internally. This type of program aids in the removal of wastes that have become trapped in vulnerable parts of our bodies. It is basically a cleansing process of the tissue underneath the skin, and helps restore elasticity to loose, flabby skin. It does not dehydrate and age the skin. It is the healthiest type of body wrap.

What is Cellulite?
Cellulite can be described as a condition of uneven deposits of fat, water, and wastes that have become trapped in connective tissues of the body, just below the skin’s surface.  Cellulite generally accumulates in areas with poor circulation, and as a result, the toxins and waste materials tend to get more clogged and harder to remove.  Cellulite is not fat, but rather a toxic body condition combined with edema and a lack of circulation.  Cellulite typically does not respond to normal weight loss and exercise programs, and can often affect thin people.  It is estimated that eight out of 10 women have cellulite, as well as many men.

Can anyone have a Body Contour Wrap?
As the wrap flushes toxins and impurities into the system, those that are pregnant, attempting to become pregnant, nursing or those with cancer within the last 5 years should not receive the wrap.

Can men benefit from the Body Contour Wrap?
Because a toxic lifestyle is prevalent in today’s world, body cleansing and body contouring are of equal value for both men and women.

Can I just have my legs wrapped?
Partial wraps are not recommended, as the Wrap uses the body’s natural systems of elimination to obtain inch loss. If only the legs are wrapped, trapped wastes may simply be moved from one area of the body to another, rather than eliminated completely through the circulation and lymphatic systems.

Why does the skin turn pink when Contour Cream is applied?
Niacin and cassia naturally promote dilation of the blood vessels and fluid flow. This increased circulation under the skin gives the skin a pink tone. This is expected, and is a positive event that shows the cream working. The skin usually returns to its normal color within an hour of application. A patch test before the wrap will show any unusual sensitivity. If this is found to be the case, Contour Cream is also available in a Sensitive Skin Formula.

How long does the wrap take?
The entire process takes approximately 2 hours. This includes the consultation, exfoliation, measurements, application of contour cream and wrapping, activation time for the contour cream to take affect, and time to cut out and re-measure.

Why, if I am losing inches, will I not lose weight with the wrap?
If there is an immediate weight loss after a wrap, this indicates that water has been lost. In this case, weight will be gained again as soon as the body is re-hydrated. With a internal cleanse wrap, there is no weight loss for at least the first 72 hours.

Cellulite is caused by toxins and wastes that are trapped in the soft, fatty tissues of the body. These are removed at the cellular level by breaking them up and moving them into the circulatory and lymphatic systems for permanent elimination through the body’s natural processes. By drinking a large quantity of water in the hours following the wrap, they are rapidly flushed out of the system. The result is inch loss and body contouring. Body wraps are wonderful for those who are already dieting and losing weight, as they have the ability to tone and tighten loose skin that develops when pounds are shed.

What can I do to enhance the results of the Body Contour Wrap?
There are several steps that can be taken to increase the effectiveness of the Body Contour Wrap:

  • The Body Contour Wrap is most effective when done in a series of at least 3 treatments performed approximately one week apart to jumpstart the body’s waste removal system.  Then, depending on the desired results, continuing to have the Wraps done at a regular interval of one per week, bi-weekly, or once per month to continue losing inches and to maintain the health of the cleansed connective tissue and to keep it free from accumulated toxins.
  • Utilizing the M’Lis Cellulite Home Care Kit on a daily basis in between treatments to stimulate and strengthen the elimination system, exfoliate the skin, stimulate circulation, and continue the contouring process.
  • Complete the Detoxification Program in conjunction with the Body Contour Wrap Series.  Detoxification cleanses the systems of the body and the tissues internally, promoting stronger and more efficient natural body functions.  Detoxification makes the Body Contour Wraps many times more effective and reverses the cycle of cellulite accumulation.
  • Eat cleansing foods—fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins will help the body to more effectively reduce its toxic load.  Processed and chemically laden foods burden the body with unhealthy fats, artificial ingredients, and empty calories that are a contributor to cellulite formation.
  • Exercise daily to encourage circulation and overall health.

Detoxification Program

FAQs on the Detoxification Program

What is the Detoxification Program?

The Detoxification Program is a complete program of herbal and fiber supplements designed to cleanse the body of harmful toxins that inhibit the body from its full healthy, natural functioning.  It is a safe, gentle way to help restore the body to a more healthful state.  The Detoxification Program is a key part of weight loss, cellulite removal, and holistic skincare, as well as a component of our other Wellness Programs.

Why do I need the initial consultation?
The initial consultation is intended to help familiarize you with the goals and procedures of the Detoxification Program, ensuring great results and a positive experience.  Once you have completed the Detoxification Program for the first time, you are encouraged to repeat the Detoxification process using the M’Lis Detoxification Kit, which can be purchased separately.

Can I detoxify for longer than 3 days?
Yes. People with more severe toxicity can benefit by cleansing for longer periods. However, it is more desirable to utilize the program regularly for 3-4 days each time, and repeat the program up to two times per month until the desired results are achieved.

Can I detoxify by just fasting with water?
Yes, but the M’lis Detoxification Program is much better than water fasting. It aids in the rebuilding process and cleanses without weakening. Because many people are already deficient as well as toxic, the longer they go without food, the greater the deficiency.

Why is it important to use distilled water?
Distilled water is pure, which means it has no chemicals or bacteria to interfere with the cleansing process. Do not use bottled mineral water since it may contain concentrations of heavy metals. Soft water is also a poor choice because of its high sodium content.

Can I use other juices?
Yes. Any unsweetened fruit juice may be substituted, if necessary, but it is not the most efficient method. Lemon juice contains important building aids and its astringent action makes it a superb cleansing agent. Fresh, ripe lemons are best of course, but frozen concentrate can be used if fresh are not available.

Will I be hungry during detoxification?
Because eating is a habit, you may have a desire to eat, but you should not feel hungry. If you do, simply drink the lemon juice mixture more often. Because this mixture is food in liquid form, it gets into the bloodstream quickly and allays hunger.

What if I feel like I must eat?
Most people find that detoxification can be difficult because eating has become a pastime in our society, and we have come to crave the taste of foods. The first time can be especially taxing. If you feel like you must eat, first increase the amount of maple syrup in your mixture. This will raise the blood sugar level, which increases energy. If that doesn’t work, try a short nap and additional water. As a last resort, eat an apple or banana, and then try to continue on with the program as outlined.

Why is it important to use maple syrup?
First, maple syrup contains many minerals and vitamins. For this reason, it will provide the body with energy. Second, pure maple syrup is a balanced, natural sweetener and can be used without causing an insulin response. Because of this, hypoglycemics can use the program without fear of lowering or raising blood sugar levels.

Can I detoxify if I have hypoglycemia?
Yes. Detoxifying is especially beneficial to hypoglycemics. Be sure to use only pure maple syrup in the lemon juice mixture. Honey or other sweeteners will trigger an insulin response. M’lis SLENDER AID will also help to regulate blood sugar levels.

Won’t the lemon juice mixture cause too much acid for my sensitive stomach?
No. Although lemon is an acid fruit, it turns alkaline as it is digested and aids in attaining a proper pH balance.

How does detoxification affect cellulite?
Cellulite is waste materials trapped in connective tissues and fat cells, and is very resistant to ordinary dieting and exercise. While M’lis Detoxification will not remove cellulite, it does clean out the intestinal tract, thereby speeding up the elimination of wastes from the body.

What if I have undesirable symptoms when detoxifying?
Many toxins can be pulled out of the body’s tissues and put back into circulation in order to be eliminated. Some people may have feelings of illness or undesirable symptoms, and some may even experience the recurrence of ailments from years past during this process. This is called a healing crisis. It is a natural and positive event that means the program is working, and the body has begun the detoxification process. This is temporary. Drink plenty of the lemon juice mixture and water to dilute and continually flush the toxins. A warm Epsom salt bath or a nap may be helpful.

Will I have energy during the cleanse?
Yes, as toxins are expelled from the system, the energy levels rises. If you are not as energetic as you feel you should be, simply add a little more maple syrup to the lemon juice mixture. This will raise and maintain your blood sugar level.

Can anyone detoxify?
You should first consult your physician if you are presently under medical care, are on prescribed medication, are over 65 years old, or have any type of serious medical condition. Pregnant and nursing mothers should not detoxify.

Is detoxification safe?
Yes. This type of internal cleanse has been used safely for periods of up to two months over the last 20 years. However, M’lis recommends the cleanse for 3-10 days only.
